Treater: Makes pipelline quality oil. A treater primarily designed to remove impurities and contaminants from crude oil, such as water, anysalts which can be dissolved in water. This process ensures the oil meets quality standards for transportation. Treaters are meant for emulsons of up to 30% water. Any water in excess of that amount should be considered “free” water and can typically be knocked out in an upstream separator usually called a Free Water KnockOut or FWKO.
Separator: Is used to separate mixtures at higher pressures of 125 through to 1440 psig such as oil, gas, and water and sometimes solids too. It works on the principle of density differences, allowing the components to separate based on their weight.

The bottom section collects water and contaminants, which can be regularly removed every dump cycle.

Chemicals are injected to enhance most separation processes. These pressure vessels use gravity and chemicals to separate impurities from crude oil and make disposal quality water.

Separators From OilPro
OilPro specializes in separators, offering custom-built units with flexible design options. These separators can handle two-phase or three-phase separation, accommodate slugs, and include features like stab-in controls, external cages, ESDs, and export crating.
Our standard separator inventory includes vertical units up to 36″ in diameter, available in both sweet and sour NACE-compliant designs.
