Surplus 600 ANSI Innopipe gas well test separators with a new lifeOilPro provided these surplus 600 ANSI Innopipe gas well test separators recently. They now living a new life in Central East Asia.

Together with our friends at OTG these were overhauled by their experienced staff, who had previous well-testing experience and therefore knew what was needed to be done for ease of operation at the other side of the world.

OTG took care on a decent sandblast and new coat of paint, straightening out the original hammer union high pressure piping and recalibrating and recertifying all key instruments and controls.

Now OilPro’s customer is able to test gas wells to gather accurate per-well performance data.

Let’s take a closer look at Innopipe.

About Innopipe Gas Separators

Innopipe makes a less expensive, high turn-down gas/ liquid separator which removes liquids by taking advantage of a naturally occurring annular liquid flow condition at gas transmission velocities.

A predominantly annular flow causes liquids to travel close to the pipe wall. The slower moving liquids want to stick to the pipe wall to get out of faster flowing gas. Innopipe gives these liquids an exit into a liquid boot. This is a calm flow process, unlike conventional separators, meaning no mist is formed and less gas and liquid gas disengaging space and time are needed. Should any mist be present, additional internal measures are taken to knock these out as well.

Natural  flow of liquids and gas allow for a smaller, lighter separator as the velocity of the gas does not have to knock out liquid like in conventional larger vessels.

Mist extractors are not required in an Innopipe.

Innopipe results include improved pipeline integrity; minimized corrosion; reduced inhibitor use; black powder reduction/ elimination; extended pipeline lifespans; slug reduction + control; reduced pigging.

Innopipe Size Options

Innopipe inline separators are available in sizes from 1” to 60” with the most common sizes able to handle the following flow conditions:

@ 100 psi:
a 2 ” (w/ 6″ boot) will separate 800 Mcf/d with up to 50 Bbl/d*
a 3 ” (w/ 8″ boot) will separate 2,000 Mcf/d with up to 310 Bbl/d*

@ 300 psi:
a 2 ” (w/ 6″ boot) will separate 2,191 Mcf/d with up to 50 Bbl/d*
a 3 ” (w/ 8″ boot) will separate 5,478 Mcf/d with up to 310 Bbl/d*

@ 1000 psi
a 2 ” (w/ 6″ boot) will separate 7,061 Mcf/d with up to 50 Bbl/d*
a 3 ” (w/ 8″ boot) will separate 17,652 Mcf/d with up to 310 Bbl/d*

*Much higher liquids capacities, including additional slugging capacities, are accommodated using our piggable Innopipe versions.

For comparison:

Separator equivalents at 1000 PSI, 7’6” length
16” 3 MM SCF/D 24” – 8.4 MMSCF/D
30” 14 MM SCF/D 36” – 20.0 MMSCF/D

Final Thoughts

If your team is looking to separate gas from liquids (and even liquid entrained solids) consider Innopipe for your next project, if the liquids amount to less than 10% of the diameter. Innopipe brings your project in under budget and under estimated time vs a vessel build.

We have experience building these in piggable and non-piggable form in sizes from 1″ through to 52″ diameter, including bidirectional systems as seen on storage cavern applications. With over 100 global installations, Innopipe is your best choice to remove liquids from your pipelines, additionally offering the above-mentioned benefits.
