The Xtreme Tank Technologies (XTT) tool from OilPro is a four-in-one application offering the following to tank owners and operators:

  1. Oil de-gassing
  2. Optimized vapour removal
  3. Oil Skimming
  4. Fire Suppression

We’ve spoken recently about the costs and prevalence of tank fires while also discussing fire detection and fire suppression

Below are a series of photos that illustrate how XTT works and the benefits offered as compared to more traditional fire suppression tank tools.

Traditional Fire Suppression Tool: Offers Limited Benefits

With a traditional fire suppression tool, it draws vapours from the top, rendering only the lightest ends of the gas spectrum.

XTT Benefits: 4 Main Benefits For Tank Owners

The XTT offers tank owners and operators these key benefits.

XTT Benefits #1 and #2: Optimized oil de-gassing and integrated vapour removal

Removes emissions AND enhances producers’ bottom line:

– Reduced treater temperatures
– Improved vapour recovery
– Solves RVP issues
– Increases net volume of captured gas (up to 18%)
– Increases tank life by removing H2S and slowing corrosion

XTT allows incoming oil to release without static head, releasing free gas immediately. This maximizes vapour removal.

XTT Benefit #3: Oil Skimming

XTT ensures only the cleanest oil ships.

XTT Benefit #4: Fire Suppression and grounding for FRP tanks

The XTT detects and extinguishes in 15-20 seconds. This is faster than you can call the fire department, and without exposing personnel to danger.

If your water tanks be made of corrosion resistant Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP), you’ll also enjoy the benefits of now being able to ground your tanks using the all stainless steel XTT construction.

Tanks are at the end of a long line of vessels and pipe, and as a result more prone to static electricity buildup. Having a ground to prevent uncontrolled static discharges is an excellent safety feature.

This increases safety and reduces damage and downtime.

A typical tank fire that quickly lights up and covers the entire top of the tank’s contents.

The fire foam is released in the tank covering the surface area rapidly several inches above the oil, quickly extinguishing the fire.

The fire is quickly contained by the XTT in less time than it takes to call the fire department.

The XTT’s foam discharge hose in action which is what is activated when a tank fire is detected.

The XTT can quickly release enough foam to extinguish the tank fire.
